FEBERARY

This month is when my strange and lovely friend Jefferey Thomas lassos his buddies into a 13 piece band for the Hideout's V-day Makeout Partay for the fourth year in a row! What stamina. He seems to have incredible poster karma with me. Finished it just in time for 2 days of visual promo! Hoorah!

Hello, it's a new decade

WELL.
December came and went in a hurry, huh? Got lots of work going on, I should have a most epic poster getting finished sometime this week. It's soooo nice to be getting back into the productive groove... It's been a slower process than I want (I can be pretty impatient with myself sometimes), but as long as the work keeps coming I'll get the routine working smoothly.

I feel like I've been on another planet since around the 15th or so of december.

In other news, washing dishes 3x a week is a much more awesome job than most people seem to think.

FINALLY: Tomorrow, Sunday, Jan 3rd, at 3 and 6pm, I will be rejoining all my PantoPeople for a set of encore performances of the 4th annual Hideout Xmas Panto: Ho Ho Ho, The Humanity! Prior to his career as a purveyor of gifts, Santa was a zeppelin pirate.
We are doing it to raise money for our cast members Kenneth Morrison, Gnat Ward, and Michelle Faust, as their house burned down the first night of the first run.

COME SEE IT! bring the kids. It's funny and dumb and hilarious, and we sing and dance.

wednesday night at screwball

So here it is, Wednesday night. I'm waiting for a coated screen to dry so's I can burn it. The classical station has been all the rage around here lately. Reminds me of being with the fam at the holidays, but maybe that's because it's the holidays and there's not much that won't remind me of home.... ANYHOW I'm almost done with some prints for some pals and it's so nice to be back in Chicago and Pops learned how to play and hooray!

SO! turns out.

I was informed that my 2008 Hideout Block Party poster was featured on the interior design blog Apartment Therapy.

http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/chicago/room-for-color-2009/beths-kind-of-blue-living-room-room-for-color-north-2-097334

Upon closer inspection I found that this woman Beth had painted her wall to match the blue on my poster, which was cool enough, you know...

But THEN, upon even CLOSER inspection, I found that she was in a contest for best color scheme or something, and under the microscope.....

congratulations to this Beth character, I hope she won something cool! And thanks to her and other folkses on the design blog scene for the shouts out.

Bloggy Blog some more

AlanaBaileyBrand has found an address in Chicago! What good news. With the Pops and the Art-Making it seemed to be a gray-hair-making challenge, but trust in universal rightness and other stupendousness has "shtepped up to the er plate" once again! Yes. Yes indeed.

With this most great and good of news comes announcements of other splendor. My excellent and old pal Ashleigh is getting married in July on Catalina Island- !!!!!!!!!! I know you all wish she and Jeff the best. Of course her first and only choice for all wedding-related printed matter was yours truly! All the time I've spent working here in Milwaukee at the legendary BROADWAY PAPER (191 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, WI) has really paid off- I will see to it that she has the most fanciest, amazingest, classiest, location-appropriate, beautiful, original wedding paper goods to be seen since people started getting married. Who knew wedding work could be so much fun?!?

For those of you that don't know her, Ashleigh has exquisite taste, plus she's really wonderful. That's why it's so fun to work with her. For those of you who don't know me, I speak truth about this kind of stuff. Anyhow, hopefully at some point in the not-too-distant-future, custom AlanaBaileyBrand wedding books will be available for the masses at your nearest fine stationery store.

Also, there are some holiday cards in the works. Hooray for uniquity!

WOW

Oh, Dear, Sweet Milwaukee,

I'm so sorry it didn't work out for us. Please- It's nothing personal. I think you're really great- You have so much to offer the right person... We're just not meant to be- at least right now. I hope we can stay friends, you know? But throwing all this shit at me on my way out, I gotta say... it's just a bad way to end it.

Please keep your crazy landlord-wife people to yourself. Also, it would be really helpful if you could do what you can to keep the buses running on time... Just for the next 2 weeks, is all I ask. And if you could just create a debris-free path running in front of my bike, that would be great too. Don't get too cold yet- even though I found my long johns, keeping track of my gloves has been harder than usual, considering the circumstances. If you could orchestrate some kind of grant... within the next week or so.... I know that one's a stretch, but I thought I'd just throw it out there.

Anyhow, Milwaukee... like I said, I really do adore you. Let's just keep the drama to a dull roar, and we can be friends in the future.

Love,
AlanaBaileyBrand.
